Meet Elder Gregory Hughes

Senior Pastor of True Life Ministries, Inc.

Elder Gregory Hughes is the third of eleven children born to Sharon and Samuel Hughes. He’s the father of two daughters, Taylor and Sheree, and the proud grandfather of four. He matriculated through the Atlanta School System, graduated in 1984 from C.L. Harper High School before pursuing graduate studies at the University of Georgia where he majored in Psychology.

Upon leaving UGA, he began a career with Wells Fargo before stepping out on faith to start his own company – “By Grace”. With God always in control, Elder Hughes has enjoyed a lucrative business with “By Grace” specializing in the restoration of vehicles, trucks, planes and boats. For over 20 years, Elder Hughes has developed and maintained an extensive customer base supporting By Grace.

Elder Hughes was faithfully and diligently serving at St. Stephens Overcoming Church of God for 20 years when he heard the voice of God. In 1992, he was ordained as a Minister of the Gospel. Following the direction of God, he began a 4:00 a.m. bible study in the morgue  at Grady Hospital. This 4:00am Bible Study subsequently grew and evolved into what is now known as “True Life Ministries, Inc.” where he has been Pastoring for 23 years. With locations in East Point, Crawfordville and Canton, Georgia, the ministry is blessed to be “One Church – In Three Locations – Going to the next Spiritual Level”.

In his tenure, Elder Hughes has answered the call to minister as: the keynote speaker for “The Future Doctors of America Association” sponsored by Morehouse College, the institution of the “Joshua’s Walk” an annual fundraiser that helped Morris Brown College gain funding and awareness in their endeavor to restore and maintain their accreditation; the host of the annual National Sacrament of Baptism Ceremony held on the beautiful shores of St. Simon’s Island in Brunswick, Georgia and an on-going support of campaigns to feed and clothe the less fortunate.

Elder Hughes continues to seek God’s presence and guidance for the purpose in which he was created. When asked how to summarize the humility and sacrifice that is continually shown by this man of God he would simply say, “Saved and Purposed.”
