Pastor Gregory Hughes: A Life of Service, Leadership, and Faith
Elder Gregory Hughes, Pastor of True Life Ministries, Inc. in East Point, Georgia, and Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Crawfordville, Georgia, has dedicated his life to service, faith, and uplifting the community. As the third of eleven children born to Sharon and Samuel Hughes, he learned the values of humility, hard work, and compassion early in life. He is the proud father of two daughters, Taylor and Sheree Hughes, and a devoted grandfather to five grandchildren.
Educational and Professional Journey
Pastor Hughes is a product of the Atlanta School System, graduating from C.L. Harper High School in 1984. Driven by a passion for knowledge and understanding human behavior, he pursued higher education at Piedmont College, majoring in Psychology. His career journey began with Wells Fargo, where he developed a foundation in professionalism and leadership. Later, he founded his own business, “By Grace,” specializing in the restoration of vehicles, trucks, planes, and boats. For over 18 years, he has successfully run this business, combining his entrepreneurial spirit with a commitment to excellence.
A Calling to Ministry Pastor Hughes’ faith journey began at St. Stephens Overcoming Church of God, where he served faithfully for 20 years. In 1992, he was ordained into ministry, answering a divine call to lead and serve others. That same year, he launched a 4:00 a.m. Bible study at Grady Hospital, where he worked as a night shift supervisor. This humble gathering of faith seekers grew into what is now True Life Ministries, Inc., a thriving congregation where Pastor Hughes has led with vision and purpose for 27 years. In 2018, he expanded his pastoral calling to include Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Crawfordville, Georgia, where he continues to inspire and guide.
Community Impact and Legacy
Pastor Hughes’ ministry transcends the walls of the church, reaching people from all walks of life. He has been a keynote speaker at countless events, including the prestigious “Future Doctors of America Association” sponsored by Morehouse College. His commitment to education and restoration is evident in his creation of “Joshua’s Walk,” an annual fundraiser supporting Morris Brown College’s mission to regain accreditation and sustain excellence.
One of his most impactful initiatives is the National Baptism event held annually in Brunswick, Georgia. For 27 years, Pastor Hughes has baptized over 2,000 individuals, offering a transformative experience to those seeking a fresh start in their faith journey. Additionally, he has tirelessly supported efforts to feed and clothe the less fortunate, exemplifying a ministry rooted in love and service.
Guided by Faith and Purpose
Pastor Hughes remains steadfast in seeking God’s presence and guidance to fulfill the purpose for which he was created. His humility, sacrifice, and unwavering faith serve as an inspiration to both the saved and unsaved, the young and old alike. When asked to encapsulate his journey and mission, Pastor Hughes simply states, “Saved and Purposed.”
Through his leadership, Elder Gregory Hughes continues to bridge generational and spiritual divides, bringing people together under the banner of faith, hope, and love. His life’s work is a testament to the power of a God-driven purpose, reaching hearts and changing lives for the better
